TransAutomation Technologies Inc. is seeking qualified mechanical engineers to join our rapidly growing company. We specialize in the manufacture and integration of material handling equipment systems such as conveyors and conveyor systems, production line automation, robotic case packers, robotic palletizers, packaging line integration and custom conveying equipment.

Position Title: Mechanical Engineer

Education Required: Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience Required: Sufficient experience in the design and layout of material handling and/or production line systems, to have the ability to design individual custom components for such systems.

Mechanical Engineer Job Purpose: Designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems to meet customers’ project needs as directed by Sales and Management.

Mechanical Engineer Job Duties:
  • Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research; applying principles of mechanics, metallurgy, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials load and stress characteristics.

  • Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.

  • Develops production and manufacturing process layouts by incorporating numerous individual equipment components into a complete system plan; by applying OEM equipment drawings in conjunction with designing custom equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing these components.

  • Works with information provided by the sales staff to confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.

  • Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.

  • Prepares product manuals by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with standards and regulations.

  • Programs commercial robots and PLC’s.

  • Helps complete projects by training and guiding technicians.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

  • Contributes to team effort by providing technical expertise as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Must be skilled at drafting/designing in computer aided drafting and design (CADD) programs such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.

  • Must have the ability (or) be willing to become fully trained on the application and programming of commercial robotics devices; fully articulated robots, SCARA robots, Parallel axis (Delta) robots in pick-and-place, case packing and palletizing applications.

  • Must have the ability to (or) be willing to become fully trained on robotic simulations, reach studies, inertia and force studies modelling.

  • Must have a solid understanding of conveyors and conveyor systems, packaging lines, packaging equipment, material handling and process flow in production line automation.

  • Must be willing to travel if needed (15%) for system start-up and turnover assistance.

  • Must be willing to support sales efforts by accompanying sales persons and management to client’s job sites, being present at trade shows, assisting with in-house demonstrations of equipment systems.

  • Must be adept at basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Etc.

  • Should have good oral and written communication skills for presenting information
    internally to team members and externally to clients.

  • Must have an attitude of innovation and seek leadership responsibilities!
